Visit: United States Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC)

Having driven by the USAHEC on 81 a few times, we always say we'd like to stop here.  We finally made it a point to at least swing through...and we just made it with only a half an hour until museum closing, with the outdoor path open until sundown.  So we hit the museum first - it was really well done and something we definitely want to plan more time for in the future!

The facility is visible from I-81, but to get there is a little round about through town.  Just FYI.

Then we hit the outside trail, dogs allowed!

Visit: Meadows Village Restaurant - Benson, NC

The Meadows Village is a great classic southern buffet restaurant.  Literally the best fried chicken I've ever had!  And save room for the dessert buffet with gorgeous made-from-scratch cakes and pies!

We had a great Sunday lunch with Kevin's sister and brother in law, and Yoda too :)  I love our crazy family :)

Notable Sight: Phineas Gage Monument

A throwback to high school psychology: we learned that the Phineas Gage accident happened in Vermont, not so very far off of our planned travel route, so we decided to go have a look at the monument:

I would have liked to have taken a little hike along the train tracks to try to find the actual site of the accident, but Theo was a bit grossed out by the whole story so we just went along on our merry way.

Visit: Antietam Battlefield

Very interesting and sobering tour of the battlefield.  We rented a car (Enterprise picked us up at the campground) and did the audio CD tour of the battlefield.  The National Park Service does such an amazing job of keeping the grounds and honoring those who were killed and injured.

Notable Sight: Tiki RV

This would be cooler if the paint job went all the way around, but still fun!

Visit: National Corvette Museum

Look at this happy child:

I think this was his favorite part of the museum!  Seatbelts on and everything, he was ready to drive out of there!

The factory tours are currently closed preparing the line for the 2014's, so the museum it was!

Fingers crossed that the raffle ticket Kevin bought comes up a winner...wouldn't that be a cool souvenir???  For now we'll take our sticker, I guess ;)

Visit: Indianapolis Motor Speedway

We were so thankful for our onboard generator here, it allowed us to turn the AC on for the puppies and tuck them in and take the track tour!

Visit: Winnebago Industries

We took the awesome tour at Winnebago Industries to see the birthplace of our Winnie!  No photos allowed during the tour, but it was really cool to see the operations.  We boarded a bus and visited the sewing and soft goods shop (where we were amazed at how the cushions get stuffed!), then to the chassis shop, then to "Big Bertha" to see the assembly line.  Pretty impressive and we were assured that we made a good choice in our Winnie!

Notable Sight: The Cannabus

Yep, the Cannabus.  Not tough to figure out the culture and lifestyle of these folks ;)

Visit: Jelly Belly Distribution Center

We stopped at the Jelly Belly visitor center at the Sun Prairie WI distribution center.  They make the jellybeans in CA, but this is a big distribution center where you can take a little train tour and they show you big videos about the history and how they're made.  A fun stop!

The tour ends at the big tasting bar and gift shop.  With of course, plenty of opportunity to taste and buy treats to take with you.

Visit: RV/Motorhome Hall of Fame

We stopped in Elkhart, IN at the RV/Motorhome Hall of Fame.  Very cool museum with a large collection of old campers dating back to 1913!

They also have a very extensive library, where they have tons of manuals and publications. We were able to find my first, last, and only cover shot:
